The Translations section provides Munich Re’s divisional units and central divisions with language services such as translation, editing, proofreading, terminology work and interpreting. We translate documents, proofread texts, and engage interpreters, using the latest digital language technology. Our staff – including lifelong speakers of English, French, Spanish, Italian and German – ensure excellent linguistic quality and professional work.
Your job
- Translating texts from German into English, with a particular focus on financial and legal texts
- Editing English texts and proofreading translations
- Checking digital proofs
- Assuring the quality of English texts written internally and externally
- Researching subject-specific terminology
- Maintaining and updating terminology databases
- Coordinating translation processes
- Providing Munich Re staff with advice (on the telephone and in person) regarding correct and appropriate English usage
Your profile
- Experienced speaker of English, with an excellent command of German; applicant must demonstrate outstanding English proficiency at C2 level (CEFR) or better, and advanced German proficiency at C1 level (CEFR) or better
- University degree in translation or a certificate from a recognised translation institution, or equivalent degree/qualification
- Several years’ professional experience as a specialist translator in financial and regulatory reporting, legal texts and (re)insurance
- Sound command of industry software, such as SDL Trados Studio, SDL MultiTerm and MS Office 365
- Eloquence, accuracy and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
