Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Information officer and general supervision of the Information officer, the incumbent exercises translation/editorial oversight of certain German-language Press Section publications, including German-language publications Amerika Dienst, which s/he puts on the Embassy’s German-language homepage and emails to subscribers; provides the same editorial oversight for the content of German-language texts that are put on the internet. In producing the Amerika Dienst publication, the incumbent selects, analyses and, as necessary, re-writes, and translates English language materials into German and, German language materials into English.
Provides interpreting and translation of speeches for the Ambassador or other senior Embassy or U.S.Government officials, as required. The incumbent also proposes and develops special thematic German language publications as appropriate and assists in other Press Section activities as necessary.
