for the section Translations
The Translations section provides Munich Re’s business units and central divisions with language services such as translation, interpreting, editing and proofreading, as well as terminology work. The Language Service can translate documents from any language into any other language, proofread foreign-language texts, and organise interpreters. Our staff, including first-language speakers of English, French, Spanish, Italian and German, ensure the linguistic quality and professional handling of your work product. Our digital language technologies enable your requests to be processed quickly, transparently and efficiently.
Your job
- Translating texts from German into English and from English into German, with a particular focus on financial and legal texts
- Editing and proofreading English texts
- Checking digital proofs
- Assuring the quality of translations produced internally and externally
- Coordinating translation processes
- Researching subject-specific terminology
- Maintaining and updating the terminology databases
- Providing Munich Re staff with advice (on the telephone and in person) regarding correct and appropriate English usage
Your profile
- English first-language speaker, with a nearly first-language-speaker command of German or German first-language speaker, with a nearly first-language-speaker command of English
- University degree in translation or translation diploma from a recognised translation institution, or equivalent degree/qualification
- Several years of professional experience as a specialist translator in financial and regulatory reporting, legal texts and (re)insurance.
- Sound command of the requisite computer programmes, such as SDL Trados Studio, SDL MultiTerm and the usual MS Office suite
- Eloquence, accuracy and ability to work under pressure
- Confident manner
- High level of commitment and team spirit
